Baltiysky Zavod was traditionally oriented towards building ships for the Russian Navy. For more than one hundred forty years the company has built a wide variety of combatant vessels. About 400 warships were delivered over this period.
During the last twenty five years thanks to its advanced atomic shipbuilding technology, Baltiysky Zavod has delivered five sophisticated nuclear-powered ships to the Russian Navy. The last one - "Piotr Veliky" cruiser - is a unique floating nuclear-missile base with the most powerful armament in the world.
Frigates
Frigates are among the main surface warships of the new century. A modern frigate is a multi-purpose low displacement ship designed for a variety of missions on the sea (and to some extent in mid-ocean). Armament of modern frigates includes the latest marine weaponry, including high-accuracy missile /artillery systems and modern surveillance, target indication, and automatic control systems.
Baltiysky Zavod has built a series of 3 project 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy.
The frigate is armed with the Club-N missile system, air defense missile systems, gunnery, torpedoe tubes, and rocket mortars. The ship has a helo deck and a hangar to accommodate a Ka-28 or Ka-31 helicopter.
Today there are three frigates ordered by the Indian Government under construction at the shipyard.
